What is your curriculum?
Bethany Early Learning Ministry uses THE CREATIVE CURRICULUM® FOR PRESCHOOL. This resource helps teachers focus on four key areas of children’s development in their preschool years: social/emotional; physical; cognitive; and, language.
Each of these focus areas combines both teacher-directed and child-directed activities – usually linked to learning centers (dramatic play, art & music, science, etc.) geared to the students’ age, learning style and personal interests. Since young children learn best through play, both independent and cooperative activities help children explore and learn.
What should my child bring?
We ask that each child have two (2) complete changes of clothing to be kept in his / her cubby. A favorite blanket for nap-time is welcome. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERSONAL TOYS OR JEWELERY.
What should my child wear?
Let the weather be your guide. NO FLIP-FLOPS OR SANDALS PLEASE. Children have two (2) outdoor play periods each day, until the temperature falls below 26°, with wind-chill. Even our babies get daily buggy rides!
Will my child get breakfast?
Children who arrive before 8:30 A.M., are served breakfast. Every child receives a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
My child is not potty-trained, now what?
We’re glad to help you work to make this happen, UNTIL THEN, parents are responsible to provide us with the diapers / pull-ups your child wears.
How do Parents and Teachers / Administrators communicate?
Teachers publish a weekly lesson plan listing goals and daily activities. Parents receive regular written reports and, often hear throughout the day via a personalized, private iPhone / SmartPhone App: Life Cubby. Parents and Teachers also communicate via e-mail and Parents are encouraged to schedule for individual conferences. Both the Director and the Assistant Director are available, daily.
Who regulates BELM?
We are a Registered Day Care Ministry overseen by the State of Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration. We are a Level 3 Paths to Quality provider.
Is there a religious influence at BELM?
BELM introduces children to a non-denominational FAITH in God, through Christ, in the Holy Spirit. Our teachers lead a morning prayer, share biblical values, introduce children to the God of creation (who makes us); the God in Christ (who frees us); and, God the Holy Spirit (who leads and guides us to a home-place in God’s own loving heart). Children are invited to a 15 minute “chapel experience,” weekly.
